The M form: your Dutch tax return in the year you move
In the year you move to or from the Netherlands, you file a special income tax return: the M form. It covers the whole year, the part you lived here and the part you did not. We prepare it for you, in English.

Who files the M form
You file the M form for the year in which you moved to the Netherlands or left it, because you lived here for only part of that year. There is one return, and one assessment, for the whole year.
When and how
The M form is filed after the end of the year. You can file it online in Mijn Belastingdienst, with DigiD (the Dutch government login) or a European recognised login, or on the paper form M. Business owners who file on paper also complete the M annual statements.
The Dutch tax authorities officially have three years to send the final assessment. If you were given an extension for filing, that period is added.
Savings and investments (box 3)
In the year you move, the tax on savings and investments in box 3 is calculated only over the full months in which you were resident in the Netherlands.
